The more it fades into the past, the more I am able to focus on those positives and just be glad that we were able to give dipsy lots of love, and a happy life.

No new dog on the horizon - the time isn't really right in our lives. But I certainly haven't ruled it out and I'm guessing it will happen at some point.

Sorry for being rude, but do I know you via any other means? I had thought you were another Andy I know (assuming you are the same Andy that has commented at other times), but I'm pretty sure he hasn't been the owner of any dogs (although I could be wrong about that).Beleaguered Squirrelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13699493386984083561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4537116561703209878.post-60273874987688643662012-06-11T09:47:05.042+01:002012-06-11T09:47:05.042+01:00Brought a tear to my eye, for sure.
My oldest dog...Brought a tear to my eye, for sure.

My oldest dog had to go in January and I know it's a difficult thing. I had one dog die of a heart attack after a morning's walk and I always kinda hope that they will all do the same - except they don't and you have to 'make the decision' - always questioning whether it's the right thing to do.

But I'm one of those who gets right back on the bike after I've fallen off and we get a new puppy next month. For all of the heartbreak at the end you get 12-14 years (hopefully) of love and fun which is immeasurable.Andyhttp://www.vandainmilan.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4537116561703209878.post-43632354626675436322012-05-14T13:19:58.426+01:002012-05-14T13:19:58.426+01:00I'm sorry my commiserations are late too. Putting them down, seeing them relax into the end, always still feels like a betrayal.

Very very sorry C, but you did everything right at the end, and she knew, till the last moment, that she was loved.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4537116561703209878.post-40666206754333985192012-05-11T09:30:58.371+01:002012-05-11T09:30:58.371+01:00I'm sorry this is so belated - I couldn't ...I'm sorry this is so belated - I couldn't get on the site last week (flaky interweb) but had seen the post title in my blog sidebar.

I have very fond memories of Dipsy from our visit several years ago to Manchester. This is an utterly moving post and I hope you and the family are finding the wonderful memories you have of Dipsy are comforting. You did the right thing.

xxxLisa Rullsenberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02020425273742237299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4537116561703209878.post-15020823262503684622012-05-02T14:21:43.658+01:002012-05-02T14:21:43.658+01:00Just remembered something I was told years ago - N...Just remembered something I was told years ago - Never wait (unnecessarily) for their distress to make your decision easy or easier. xRagged Thread Cartographerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10676623645707062691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4537116561703209878.post-779083412153593882012-05-02T00:25:48.250+01:002012-05-02T00:25:48.250+01:00Every time I lose one of these friends, in my case...Every time I lose one of these friends, in my case cats, I swear to God I will never ever go through this pain again, the weeping or self-questioning and horrible heartache. And I do it all again after a while. And having them put down when you're told it's the right thing to do - I don't know which is worse, doing it to them or having them die on you. Seems Dipsy really gave you no choice, in such distress. Thinking of you, anyway. xRagged Thread Cartographerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10676623645707062691noreply@blogger.com
